Status 11/17: XPV colors restocked, new products

XPV production delays resolving

It has been a while since the last update. We have been kept intensely busy with the first run of XPV DNA-200D mods. Over the last few weeks we have been dealing with illnesses in the office, which had put production back significantly. At this time we have cleared out almost all the backlogged orders and will be current within a few days.

We are now fully stocked on case colors for XPV DNA-200Ds. This run of colors is slightly darker and richer than usual. xc1 Looking over the last update, we mentioned we would officially announce the XC model soon and never did. We are happy to officially introduce the XPV DNA-200D Extended Capacity model, a 2600maH version of the XPV DNA-200D. It is the same dimensionally as the original model, but is 50mm longer. As you may have heard, a severe screen shortage has hit the DNA-200D ecosystem and supplies are dwindling fast. We will strive to keep the boards in stock as long as possible, however quantity price breaks will go away temporarily as stock trends toward 0. Price breaks will be restored when we restock.

Protovapor will be on vacation 11/26 – 12/4. During this time the shipping schedule will reduce and may pause entirely. Lead times for mods will be adjusted accordingly as the date approaches.

Status 8/31: XPV colors now available

XPV DNA-200D main production begins

Today we are pleased to announce the start of primary production of the XPV DNA-200D mod in our usual XPV color variety. In addition, we have upgraded the site software to support more robust options management and are now offering two-tone color schemes as a standard option. The new software should allow us to control sales volume more effectively and thus maintain a more consistent — and low — lead time. We are currently in the process of updating images for the XPV and should have a more complete gallery as the week goes on.

XPV DNA-200D Extended Capacity preliminary announcement

In conjunction with the above announcement, we are also announcing another device, the XPV DNA-200D Extended Capacity. This is a triple 18650, 28.86 watt-hour version of the XPV DNA-200D and is basically the same mod but taller. We expect to officially announce it and make it available later this week.

Hurricane alley

A little side note, we are currently deep in the midst of hurricane season here in the middle of the pacific. Should any approach too close to the islands we could see some power disruptions which would set production back, so we are being a little cautious with our lead time estimates.

Status 8/24: Further update

Hits keep coming

Unfortunately we have encountered several more issues affecting production, the most significant of which is that one of our production CNC mills went down. Repair parts are due in Monday. This has caused an additional delay in fulfilling initial orders, though we have been working on them through the weekend and intend to get them out as soon as machine-assisted-humanly possible.

On the better news side, we have received the new color cases and will soon be offering black, grey, gold, green, dark blue, and red options. We will also be offering two-tone as an option.

Status 8/19: XPV production update

Producing of XPV DNA-200Ds proceeds, colors imminent

We are currently a few days behind on production of the XPV DNA-200D mods, as optimizing designs and processes for production has taken longer than expected. We have closed ordering temporarily until we get things more settled, we expect ordering to reopen before the end of the week. Our goal is to have all mods ordered this far shipped out by the end of the week.

Color case options are expected to arrive at the end of this week, and we will likely make them available early next week.

Status 8/6: Introducing the XPV DNA-200D

XPV DNA-200D launch!

Today we are pleased to introduce our latest XPV, the XPV DNA-200D. Featuring the 200-watt DNA 200D board by Evolv, it is our most advanced and powerful device to date. We have completely remade our design and production for this XPV, and continue to tweak production methods, but as of today we are in full and continuous production. Currently only teal blue color is available and we will release stock over time in limited quantities to ensure that lead times are controlled. Additional colors are expected in about a week. The XPV remains a made-to-order device.
